PAGES: Assigning a Start Page

What is a Start Page?

A Start Page is a content page that you can assign as the first thing that a user is directed to when they log in. Think of it as their "default" page.

You can set any Portal Page you've created to be a Contact or Staff Member's Start Page, with content that can be as personalized as you'd like.

You can also set the  Project Dashboard of a Project as a Client's Start Page! More information is in the sections below.

How do I assign a Portal Page as a Start Page?

First, you will need to create a Portal Page that you would like to be used as the user's Start Page.

Once you have a Portal Page created, navigate to Content > Portal Pages > Manage Pages.

To assign a Start Page, the user must already be assigned to have access to that Page.

For Prospects and Clients, there are fields to input the assigned Contact(s) or Circle(s).

For Staff roles (Admin, Project Manager, Office Manager, Teammate, Salesperson, and Freelancer), there are fields to input the assigned Staff Member(s) or Team(s).

Once the desired user(s) have been assigned to the Portal Page, you can assign it as a Start Page in one of two ways.

While in the Edit screen of the Portal Page, click the Assign Start Page button.

Or from the Manage Pages view, you can click the Options menu button (3 dots) and select Assign Start Page.

You can then select the User(s) or Circle(s)/Team(s) from the respective dropdown menus.

If you Impersonate the user, you'll be able to see the Start Page in action!

How do I assign a Project Dashboard as a Start Page?

Your Client will need to be assigned to a Project with the Project Dashboard enabled.

Navigate to Projects > Projects, and click Manage on the Project you would like to assign as a Start Page.

Click the Settings tab in the top navigation menu bar.

Locate the Project Dashboard section on this page, and toggle Enable the Project Dashboard view to ON.
Then you can choose which Clients (the Primary Client as well as Secondary Clients) will be assigned the Project Dashboard as their Start Page.

Linking to the Start Page

If you are using Custom Menus or some other link structure that you want to be dynamic based on which user is logged in, you can use this Placeholder Link to link to the logged-in user's Start Page:

/your-start-page/

The relative URL means that the provided URL is relative to your particular base URL.

Your Start Page link should be https://yourchoice.yourdomainname.com/your-start-page/

(replace https://yourchoice.yourdomainname.com with your Custom URL)
