FORMS: Submission Review Panel
What is the Submission Review Panel?
The Submission Review Panel is how a Form submission opens for your Staff. Click a submission and it opens in a panel on the right half of the screen, while the list of submissions stays in view and usable beside it.
From the panel you can step through the list with Previous and Next, see every file your client uploaded with a picture, its type and its size, and open a photo or PDF right inside the panel instead of downloading it. It is built for reviewing a batch, such as working through every client who has returned your tax organizer and checking each document as you go.
There is nothing to switch on. Every account opens submissions this way.
Where do I find it?
On a Form's submissions
Navigate to Forms and click the submission count (the paper plane icon) under the Form's name. This opens that Form's Submissions list. Click any submission to open it in the panel.
On a Contact's record
Open a Contact in the CRM and select the Forms tab. The same panel opens here, names the Form each submission answers, and lets you step through everything that Contact has sent you, across all of your Forms.
A submission opened from a direct link shows the same answers, file pictures and file view on a page of its own.
TIP: Who can open submissions is unchanged: Staff whose Role lets them manage Forms. Submissions of a Quiz Form also need access to Quizzes.

How do I review submissions?
Click a submission in the list. The panel slides in beside the list, nothing is dimmed, and the open submission's row is marked so you can always see which one you are reading.

Know your place in the list
The panel header shows your position, for example 2 of 13. The position follows the list as you have searched, filtered and sorted it, so if you filter to this week's submissions you step through just those, in your own order.
Move with Previous and Next
Click Next and the following submission replaces the one in the panel, and the mark moves to its row in the list. On the last row loaded on the page, Next loads the next page of the list and carries on. Previous is disabled on the first submission, and Next on the last.
The list stays live while the panel is open: search for a client and click their row, and the panel switches to them. If a search or filter hides the submission you have open, the panel no longer shows a position, and Previous and Next are disabled until you open a submission from the list again.
Close the panel
Press Escape or click the close button (X) in the panel header. The panel closes and the row's mark clears.
How do I check uploaded files?
Each file your client uploaded through the Form appears in their answers with its name, its type and its size, such as JPG ยท 60 KB.

A photo shows a small picture of itself when your account has file previews turned on. A PDF shows a picture of its first page where PDF pictures are available, and a paperclip otherwise. Either way, the file still opens in full.
Open a file in the panel
Click a photo (JPG, PNG, GIF or WEBP) and it opens full width inside the panel. Click a PDF and it opens in your browser's own PDF viewer inside the panel, with every page, after a short grey loading placeholder.

Above the file you have three buttons:
- Back to Answers returns you to the submission, at the place you left off.
- Download saves the file to your computer.
- Open in New Tab opens the file in its own browser tab.
The file view shows one file at a time. When one answer holds several files, go Back to Answers and open the next one from there.
When a file cannot be shown in the panel
- A file larger than 20 MB, or of a type other than JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP or PDF (a Word document, for example), shows No preview available, with Download and Open in New Tab.
- If your browser is set to download PDFs rather than display them, a PDF shows the same No preview available card.
- On a phone, a PDF opens in a new tab instead of inside the panel.
- A file that cannot be loaded right now shows The preview could not be loaded. and still offers Download.
- A file that no longer exists, or that was not uploaded through this Form, shows its name followed by File unavailable, with no link, picture or preview.
TIP: The panel only ever shows files that were uploaded through that Form. If someone types a file reference into a Form answer instead of uploading a file, it is shown as unavailable, so nobody can use a public Form to pull up a file that is not theirs.
How do I add an internal note?
Click Add Note in the panel, write your note and save it. The panel stays on the same submission and shows the Note Added mark, and the list behind it is not reloaded, so you can carry straight on with Next. Internal notes are private to your Staff; clients never see them.
IMPORTANT: A note you have typed but not saved is discarded when you move away from the submission, for example by clicking Next. Save it first.
Download PDF at the top of the panel still downloads the whole submission as a PDF, just as before.
What can't I do from the panel?
The panel is for reading and reviewing. From inside it you cannot edit a client's answers, approve or reject a submission, or delete it. To delete a submission, use the menu (the three dots) on its row in the list.
Does this change anything for my clients?
No. Your clients fill in Forms and upload files exactly as before, and their files are shown only to Staff who are allowed to open the submission. The downloadable submission PDF and the submission shown inside a FLOW step are also unchanged.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On a phone the panel fills the screen with the same controls, and a PDF opens in a new tab rather than inside the panel.
