BLOCKS: Empty Space Block

Empty Space Block

The Empty Space Block allows you to add blank vertical space between content on a page when using a Block Editor (Dashboard, Portal Page, Landing Page, Profile Page, Document, Proposal, Campaign, Lesson/LMS, Sales Funnel). You can also apply styling to it, making it a flexible tool for both layout spacing and visual separation.

What This Block Is Used For

Use this block whenever you need to control the spacing or visual flow of your page layout. It is particularly useful when you want to create breathing room between sections or add a styled visual break without using a full separator line.

  • Add vertical spacing between content blocks
  • Create visual breathing room to improve readability
  • Use with background color styling to act as a decorative section divider
  • Fine-tune the layout of your Pages ((Dashboards, Portal Pages, Landing Pages, Profile Pages, Documents, Proposals, Campaigns, Lessons/LMS, Sales Funnels).

What Users Will See

Users will see a blank area of space between the surrounding content blocks. The height of this space is determined by the value you set when configuring the block. If styling has been applied, the block may also display a background color or border, making it more of a visual element within the layout.

  • A blank space of your chosen height between content blocks
  • Optional background color or border if styling has been applied
  • No interactive elements — this block is purely visual and structural

How to Add This Block

1. Open the Content Block Editor on the Dashboard or Portal Page you wish to edit.

2. Click the Add Block (+) button to open the block selection menu.

3. Select Empty Space from the list.

Once added, the block will appear in your layout and is ready to be configured.

How to Configure the Block

After adding the block, click the pencil (edit) icon in the block toolbar to open the block options.

This will open the Block Options tab.

Height: Enter the height of the empty space. The default unit is pixels (px), however CSS measurement units such as em and % are also supported. If no value is set, the default pixel size will be applied.

In addition to the Block Options tab, you can access the Style Options tab to further customise the appearance of the block,

  • Border Style — Add a border around the block
  • Border Radius — Soften the corners of the block, from None up to 35px
  • Border Color — Choose a color for the border
  • Background Color — Set a fill color for the block area
  • Text Color — Set a text color
  • Custom CSS Class — Apply your own CSS for further customisation

Once you have set your preferred options, click Save to apply the changes.

Best Practices

Thoughtful use of spacing can significantly improve the readability and professionalism of your pages.

  • Use consistent spacing values across your Dashboard to maintain a clean, uniform layout
  • A height of 20–40px is typically enough for subtle separation between blocks
  • Use the styling options to turn the Empty Space Block into a styled divider when a Horizontal Separator is too subtle
  • Avoid overusing large spacing values, as this can push important content too far down the page for users

TIP: The Empty Space Block works especially well in combination with the Horizontal Separator Block. Use Empty Space above and below a Separator to give it more visual prominence on the page.
