BLOCKS: Trails Block

The Trails Block allows you to embed polished, AI-generated how-to guides and video walkthroughs directly on any Dashboard, Portal Page, Public Page, or LMS course. Trails is a dedicated third-party tool that records your screen, automatically generates a step-by-step guide with annotated screenshots, and produces a branded narrated video. Once your guide is created in Trails, simply add the Trails Block to any page in the Content Block Editor and paste in the guide URL to display it inline within your portal.

What This Block Is Used For

Use this block wherever you need to explain a process, train a team member, or walk a Client through a workflow. It turns any repeatable task into a professionally documented guide that anyone can follow, without the need for video editing software, manual screenshot capture, or writing up documentation afterward.

  • Embed Client onboarding walkthroughs directly on a Client's portal landing page so they can follow along at their own pace
  • Create searchable internal SOP libraries on Staff dashboards so your team can access process guides without asking for help
  • Attach step-by-step process guides directly to Project or Task pages so the exact instructions are always alongside the work
  • Build LMS courses using branded AI-narrated video walkthroughs instead of static slide decks
  • Publish how-to content and help centre articles on Public Pages for prospects and existing Clients
  • Document edge cases, billing processes, and third-party tool workflows that cannot be automated, so the knowledge is never locked in one person's head

What Users Will See

When users access a page containing a Trails Block, they will see the embedded guide displayed directly within the page content. The experience is clean, professional, and fully white-labelled within your portal. Trails branding is not visible to your Clients or Staff.

  • A polished step-by-step guide with annotated screenshots displayed inline on the page
  • An AI-narrated branded video walkthrough that users can watch as an alternative to reading the guide
  • The option to choose between the written guide format or the video format, depending on their preference
  • Sensitive information such as passwords or confidential data can be blurred within screenshots
  • Content displayed in the user's own language if translations have been enabled in your Trails account

Trails Pricing

Trails offers two plans that have been negotiated specifically for you.

Best Practices

Getting the most from the Trails Block comes down to identifying the right processes to document and placing guides where users naturally need them.

  • Start by documenting the processes that generate the most repeated questions from Clients or Staff, as these will deliver the greatest immediate value
  • Embed onboarding guides directly on the first page new Clients or Staff see when they log in, so the information is available the moment it is needed
  • Attach process guides to the specific Project or Task pages they relate to rather than storing them in a central library, so users find the right guide at the right moment
  • Keep each guide focused on a single task or process. Shorter, focused guides are easier to follow than long multi-step recordings
  • Use the version history feature in Trails to update guides whenever a process changes, keeping your documentation current without starting from scratch
  • Use the Access Options tab on the block to control which roles or users can see each guide, ensuring the right content is visible to the right audience

TIP: The Trails Block works especially well on Client onboarding pages. Record a walkthrough of the Client's portal once, embed it on their onboarding page, and every new Client gets the same clear guided experience without you needing to repeat the same explanation on a call. Record once and train forever.
