Quizzes: Outcome Scoring
What is Outcome scoring?
Outcome is a second way to score a Quiz. A standard Quiz (a Knowledge Check) marks answers right or wrong and ends in a percentage and a pass or fail. An Outcome Quiz gives every answer a number of points, adds the points a person picks into one total, and turns that total into a named result, such as "Getting Started", "Building Momentum" or "Ready to Scale".
Each result can carry a short explanation and one button that points to the right next step. That makes Outcome Quizzes a good fit for package finders, fit checks, readiness assessments and "which type are you?" quizzes that turn a visitor into a lead.
The result is the same everywhere the Quiz runs: assigned directly, taken through a Quiz Form, or placed in a Quiz block on a Portal Page or Public Page. Once a person earns a result, it never changes, even if you edit the Quiz later.

How do I turn a Quiz into an Outcome Quiz?
Open the Quiz and go to its Edit tab. Set Scoring Mode to Outcome. The Outcome Results section appears below it.

Add up to 20 results with Add Result. For each one, enter:
- Name (required, up to 100 characters): what the person sees as their result.
- Explanation (optional, plain text, up to 1,000 characters): what the result means for them.
- Minimum Score and Maximum Score: the range of totals that lands on this result.
- Optional Call to Action: a Button Text and an http or https URL for their next step. The button opens in a new tab.
Each new result starts one point above the last one. Split Evenly divides the whole scale between your results in one step, and never gives a result a range that no set of answers can reach.
TIP: Watch the line under Outcome Results. It shows the Possible total and tells you whether every score has a result. While anything is missing it reads "Finish the scoring setup before publishing." and each problem names the score it affects. Once it reads "Every possible score has a reachable result." the Quiz is ready to preview and publish.
How do I give answers points?
Go to the Quiz's Questions tab and open a question. Under Answer Points, give each answer a whole number from -100 to 100. The points of the answers a person picks add up to their total. These points belong to this Quiz only, so the same question can be worth different points in another Quiz.

A minus value takes points away, which is handy for an answer that should move someone toward a lower result. When an answer can take points away, your first result must start at the lowest score the Quiz can produce instead of at 0, and the Questions tab tells you the whole scale, for example "These 2 questions can score from -15 to 30."
IMPORTANT: On a published Quiz, answer points are locked. Use Move to Draft before changing them. Saving any change to the scoring setup sends anyone who is partway through the Quiz back to the first question. Results people have already earned are kept.
Which questions can an Outcome Quiz use?
Only single-answer Multiple Choice and True/False questions count in an Outcome Quiz. Open-answer, matching and multiple-answer questions cannot be used.
How do I check it before going live?
Use the Quiz's Preview tab. It plays the Quiz and ends on the exact result a set of answers would give. Preview records nothing, so you can try it as often as you like. When you are happy, Publish. Publishing is refused until every possible total lands in exactly one result that can actually be reached.
What does the person taking the Quiz see?
When they finish, they see their result's name, its explanation and its button. They also see their total, unless you set Score Display to Do Not Show Score. They never see a percentage, a pass or fail, or which answers were "correct", because an Outcome Quiz has none.
Through a Quiz Form, they then continue to the details step and send their details. They arrive in your CRM with the result already on their Contact.

Where do I see the results?
The same saved result shows in every place your team looks:
- On the Quiz: the Members and Pages tabs list each finished run with its result and total. Open a member's answers to see each answer they picked and the points it carried, with the total at the bottom.
- On the Contact: the Quizzes tab in the CRM shows a card for each finished Quiz, with the result, the total and the button they were offered.
- On the Form submission: a Quiz Form submission shows the same result.

What can't an Outcome Quiz do?
- It produces one total and one named result per run. There are no formulas, branching or multiple scoring dimensions.
- It cannot be placed on an LMS course step. Course quizzes stay Knowledge Checks.
- It cannot be attached to a Quiz Form that requires a passing score.
- A Quiz cannot switch to Outcome while an LMS course step or a pass-gated Quiz Form still uses it. Remove that use first.
